Palm Grass Hotel to screen student videos on Tres de Abril uprising

Palm Grass, Cebu’s only heritage hotel, invites the Cebu public to watch the videos on the victorious Battle of Tres de Abril created by Cebu college students and Hong Kong-based Asia-Pacific Focus Features on April 3, 2018 at Palm Grass Hotel. (See attached promotional video).

Palm Grass Hotel, with Video Creator Prospero Laput of Asia-Pacific Focus Features, led selected University of the Philippines-Cebu (UP-Cebu) and University of San Carlos (USC) students in producing two videos on the 1898 Cebu Revolution against Spain.

The first video, “Padayon, Sizts! (#KilatLove4Cebu)”, is written, directed, and acted by UP and USC students, and is a modern retelling of what happened in the uprising 120 years ago.

The second video, “Suroy-Saysay (A Tres de Abril heritage walk)”, is a light but probing conversation with Leon Kilat book author Emil Justimbaste regarding the heroes and events of the 1898 Cebu Revolution.

Palm Grass facilitates the remembrance of the historic Tres de Abril Uprising by leading the youth in creative ways to relive this nearly forgotten period in Cebu history.

The videos will be officially screened on April 3, 2018, at 3:00 PM during Palm Grass Hotel’s Grand Opening Anniversary “SAYAW, SINGGIT, SAULOG SA UNANG TUIG SA PALM GRASS”, which is also the 120^th year of the Battle of Tres de Abril.

Katipunero Heneral Leon Kilat led 2,500 Cebuanos in the Tres de Abril uprising on Palm Sunday of 1898, at 3:00PM.
