Palm Grass to celebrate the Leon Kilat’s birthday  with a forum, videos, songs and games 

  

Palm Grass, The Cebu Heritage Hotel, will celebrate the 146th birthday of Cebu hero Gen. Pantaleon Villegas (Leon Kilat) by releasing video interviews of his descendants, holding both a forum and a birthday party for the Cebu revolutionary hero.

 

Gen. Pantaleon Villegas who led the 1898 Cebu Revolution against Spain was born on July 27, 1873.As a tribute, on July 25, 26, and 27, 2019, Palm Grass will release videos on Leon Kilat filmed at his birthplace in Bacong, Negros Oriental.  

 

These video interviews on Leon Kilat are co-produced by Hong Kong-based video creator Prospero Laput of Asia-Pacific Focus Features, which has partnered with Palm Grass in producing community-created videos on Cebu heritage and history for more than a year.

 

On July 27, 2019, at 1PM, Katipunero descendant and lawyer Harve Abella will be the main speaker in a free admission forum entitled “LEON: Ang Bayani sa Sugbo nga Abtik pas Kilat” to be held at Palm Grass’ Hawanan Tres de Abril. Cebu historian Trizer Mansueto will give his reaction while Bag-ong Teatro Junquera performers will present excerpts from the play, “Abtik pas Kilat”.

 

On July 31, at 8pm, a  fun party, “LeonKilat@146: Kanta, Kasadya, Katawa” will be celebrated at Palm Grass’ Hardin Dagami Roofdeck Bar. It will be open for everyone.

 

In this  birthday party for Leon Kilat, prizes will be won by party-goers who will answer trivia questions, join games, and give messages for Leon Kilat. Award-winning music artist Gerlyn Abaño will serenade and jam with Hardin Dagami party guests.

 

To give tribute to Leon Kilat’s leadership and sacrifice for Cebu independence, Atty. Harve Abella will discuss how the Cebu hero earned the moniker, “abtik pas kilat (faster than lightning)” in the July 27 forum.

 

Participants of the forum which has no registration fee, will get discount coupons for Palm Grass’ Kapihan ni Lumaya and Hardin Dagami Roofdeck Bar.
